Victims of recent windstorm in Agbashi community of Doma Local Government have recieved cash and building materials donations worth millions of Naira.

Krestnews reports that the items were donated by a consortium of various representatives at the State and National Assemblies.

Chairman of the distribution committee Alhaji Ibrahim Olose made this known during the distribution exercise at Agbashi, Saturday.

The relief materials, distributed to over two hundred households, was in response to the devastation suffered as a result windstorm which ravaged houses, worship centres, schools, health facilities on April second 2024 in parts of Nasarawa South Senatorial Zone of the State including Agbashi community and its surounding villages.

The unfortunate incident prompted some well meaning individuals and groups to make donations in cash and building materials to the affected persons in Agbashi the headquarters of Ekye Development Area in order to cushion the negative impact of the natural disaster.

Addressing victims of the incident, Chairman of the committee Alh. Ibrahim Olose urged beneficiaries not to sell the items rather that they should use them for the purpose they are meant for noting that the distributed items are given based on the needs assessment conducted on Agbashi, Iponu, Okpanya,Ole gabogye and Kaduna Bassa.

The Education Secretary Ekye Development Area Donald Epoh who is Secretary of the Committee explained that worship centers and schools that where affected by the windstorm also benefited from the gesture.

The committee expressed appreciation to the donors who include Sanator representing Nasarawa South Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, Sen Ahmed Wadada, mamber representing Doma, Keana and Obi at the house of representatives Abubakar Hassan Nalaraba, member representing Doma South at the State Assembly Musa Ibrahim and a retired Comptroller of Customs Joseph Attah amongst others.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Odawose Emmanuel and Enekwiri Abama Andrew appreciated the donors for coning to their aids and appealed to government to compliment the gesture for their well-being.

The Committee were also at the palace of the Utushoho of Agbashi Moses Alade who was represented by the Owuse of Agbashi Mr. Audi Otebo who gave the blessings of the royal father for the success of the exercise.
