The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, has commissioned the remodelled Government House Complex, Bauchi urging Governors from Northeast subregion to prioritize infrastructure and economic growth initiative in their collective struggle to establish legacy projects in their respective states.
He gave the advice while inaugurating the remodel Bauchi State Government House constructed by the incumbent Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad.
Krestnews reports that the new government house contains nine office buildings which includes the Governor’s office, his Deputy, and the State First Lady as well as expanded Governor’s residence, Mosque, clinic among others.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Vice President said effective leadership requires a conducive working environment that would facilitate formulation and implementation of laudable policies and programmes.

According to him, State governments are vital for human development and social change as there are great challenges like healthcare, education and security, pointing out that development indices in many Nigeria states are lagging behind in global standards and effective value driven political leadership is necessary for to improve the negative trends.
“It is incumbent upon all of us in position of authority to take interventions in developing governance Infrastructure as a catalyst to harmonize and supervise our policy making processes”
“I want to personally seize this opportunity to commend his Excellency, the Governor of Bauchi State for personally taking his time, life and energy in repositioning this state. This edifice will stand the test of time and your Excellency, posterity will judge you kindly for devoting your time, life , energy and resources for the development of Bauchi state”
“Governance is about inclusivity, reaching out and building bridges and the current crop of governance I must admit are pass superior to previous governance” he said
He commended the governors in the Northeast region for their comradeship, sense of purpose and commitment, pointing out that all the governors in the Northeast region are united in the common course of repositioning the Northeast subregion.

Also Speaking, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad said that the former government house was characterized by inadequate space, dilapidated structures and unfavorable working environment, stressing that he was inspired to reconstruct the seat of power under his administration urban renewal initiative.
“Your excellencies, it would be recalled that at the inception of this administration during my first tenure in 2019, we initiated a clear policy thrust under “My Bauchi project agenda”, aiming at improving the welfare of our people through the creation of a robust and diversified economy, upscaling both the social subsector and infrastructure ramifications”
“The remodeling of the dilapidated, badly, mismanaged and inadequate government house fell under our infrastructure remediation programme even as we identify it as a strategic cornerstone of our ambitious urban renewal agenda.
“I have always considered the previous government house an afront to the state due to the calibre of governmental administration that has compelled us to lose hours in a very unconducive environment and what about our visitors, those guests, our development partners who have been privileged to interact with other nations and subnational entities in other states and seeing what we are with our demographics with our historic pedigree at the centre of new politics in Nigeria”

“My tenancy of the government house provided an instant and compelling justification for my earlier grilling and indeed brought to the fore the agency of holistically resetting the architectural face of Bauchi government house” he said
The event has in attendance six Governors from Northeastern subregion, former Governors of the state, members of the National Assembly, Emirs from within and outside the state among others.
