Authorities of the University of Jos has taken delivery of 13 dental chairs procurement by the Plateau State Government as part of efforts aimed at promoting dental health care education at the College of Health Science,University of Jos.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony which took place at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang emphasized the need for improved dental services and manpower training in Plateau State through such gestures.
He reiterated the commitment of the State Government to equipping hospitals across the Senatorial zones with dental equipment to facilitate efficient provision of dental care services.
“We are committed to ensuring state wide coverage in the provision of dental equipment, with at least one hospital equipped in each Senatorial District to promote quality and efficient dental healthcare provision”
He extended gratitude for the collaboration with the University of Jos, stating his administration’s determination to facilitate effective service delivery despite the federal status of the institution.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Rahila Gowon while accepting the equipment expressed appreciation to the Plateau State Government for the generosity, saying it is going to have significant impact on the College of Health Sciences.
Prof. Gowon emphasized the trans-formative effect of the donation in the institution saying it will address accreditation challenges and instil hope among dental students.
She commended Governor Mutfwang’s integrity and proactive leadership in the institution-building efforts.
Krestnews reports that the Vice Chancellor in turn handed the 13 dental chairs to the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, University of Jos, Prof. Caleb Mpyet, to enhance quality learning.
The Chief Medical Director of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), Dr. Pokop Bupwatda appreciated Governor Mutfwang for the intervention and assured that the medical equipments will be used for the benefit of citizens.
