A High Court 6 sitting in Minna, the Niger Stste capital has issued a warrant for the arrest of the Managing Director of Polaris Bank PLC Omokayode Lawal and the branch Manager of the Bank in Minna for contempt of Court.
The presiding judge, Justice Maimuna Abubakar issued the arrest order Tuesday for not honouring the court summons
over allegation of Tax evasion to the tune of more than one billion Naira.
The Niger State Revenue Service had filed its case through Muhammad Ndayako SAN against the defendants, Managing Director of Polaris Bank PLC, and the Bank’s branch Manager Minna for their refusal to pay taxes worth more than one billion Naira.
However Muhammed Ndayako told the court that despite the court summons were served on the defendants, they were absent in the court urging the court to issue warrant for their arrest .
In her ruling, Justice Maimuna Abubakar ordered Police Officers to arrest the defendants.
and adjourned the case to the thirteenth of December 2024 for the arraignment of the defendants.
