A fresh report from Minna, Niger State indicates that the Military have recorded yet another milestone in the fight against terrorists operating in parts of the State.
According to Krestnews report, a yet to be identified bandits leader operating within Tegina in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger state has been neutralized by military personnel
Krestnews news further report that the bandits leader died on Monday morning during a gun duel between the military and members of his gang.
However the report says two military personnel reportedly sustained bullet injuries and are responding to treatment at the hospital in Minna
The Chairman of Rafi Local Government Area, Alhaji Ayuba Usman Katako confirmed the incident in telephone interview with journalists on Monday.
He said, “The incident occurred in the early hours of today, Monday June 10 during a gun duel while one of the suspected bandits believed to be the leader of the criminal gang was neutralized”.
He added that the two soldiers injured in the battle are responding to treatment at IBB Specialist Hospital Minna
Katako commended the military for their gallantry in foiling the planned attack by the bandits on communities in the area.
He said, “the military, police and vigilantes are trying their best in ensuring peace and security of lives and properties in the state and deserved to be commended”.
While decrying the continued unexpected attacks on the security personnel, the council boss called for patience, support and prayers to overcome the menace of insecurity bedeviling the state and Nigeria at large.
Krestnews also gathered that the criminals were crossing towards Mashegu and Wushishi Local Government Areas of the state to rustle a targeted group of cattle before engaging the military in fierce battle.
Military and Police authorities are yet to respond to the incident at the time of filing this report
