The Nasarawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has joined other well meaning Nigerians in congratulating Governor Abdullahi A. Sule of Nasarawa State on his recent affirmation by the Supreme Court as the duly elected Governor of the State during the March 18 governorship poll.
According to the Union, the judgment of the Apex court has finally put to rest the prolonged legal battle from the outcome of the governorship election in the state.
The NUJ Nasarawa State Council in the statement issued and signed by the Council Secretary, Comrade Sunday John appeals to the governor to be magnanimous in victory in line with the principle of democracy.
“The council wishes to call on His Excellency, the governor to focus on delivering good governance to the people irrespective of any differences.”
In like manner the Union also called on the PDP and it’s candidate to accept the outcome of the Apex court in the spirit of democracy and sportsmanship with the view to ensuring that peace and unity prevails in the State and to join hands with the government to move the State forward.
According the council in the statement also urged people of the State to put all that happened during elections behind them and support the government in the task of governance.
The Union, on behalf of the entire practicing journalists in the State, assures the government of its support at all times.
