An online has report has emerged of a six-year-old girl in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, India reportedly saved by a group of monkeys from attempt sexual assault.
The incident, which is said to have occurred on September 20,according to Phoenix report, has prompted a police investigation and renewed discussions on child safety in the region.
“An extraordinary incident in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, has captured public attention after reports surfaced of a young girl’s narrow escape from harm, aided by an unexpected source. On September 20, in Daula village, a six-year-old student found herself in a perilous situation when a stranger reportedly lured her away from her home, the report says.”
According to local authorities, the child was reported to be playing outside when an unknown man convinced her to follow him.
The individual, according to the report is believed to be from a neighboring village, allegedly led the girl to an abandoned structure with nefarious intentions and that the situation took a surprising turn when a group of monkeys appeared at the scene and scared him off.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the primates’ aggressive behavior towards the man caused him to flee, allowing the child to escape unharmed. The girl’s father, overwhelmed with relief, credited the monkeys with potentially saving his daughter’s life.
Local police are reported to have confirmed the report and that the CCTV footage reportedly shows the suspect walking with the child, his identity remains unknown, prompting a police manhunt.
“This unusual event has sparked discussions about child safety and the unpredictable interactions between wildlife and human communities. Child welfare advocates are using this incident to emphasize the need for increased vigilance and improved safety measures for young children in the area”, the report further said.
