Mr Yakubu Kwanta, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development has said Gov. Abdullahi Sule has approved the construction of three mini stadiums in the three Senatorial District of the state.
The Commissioner stated this on Tuesday in Lafia during a ministerial briefing organised by Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, to enable government officials to showcase their mid-teem achievements.
Kwanta explained that the mini-stadium for Nasarawa North Senatorial Zone would be constructed in Wamba LGA, while the one for Nasarawa South and West Senatorial Zones would be at Doma and Nasarawa LGAs, respectively.
He emphasised that the governor had done a lot towards employing the youths since he assumed office in 2019, and these initiative were to consolidate his efforts.
The Commissioner further disclosed that the government would renovate and upgrade facilities at the youth centers in the 13 LGAs of the state.
He, however, said that due to limited resources, the upgrade of the youth centers was in phases and noted that already the ones in Akwanga and Lafia were upgraded with state-of-the-art facilities.
He explained that the initiative was aimed at promoting youth and sports development and providing facilities for young athletes.
“The construction of these stadiums and renovation of youth centers are part of the state government’s efforts to promote sports development.
On his part, the Commissioner for Information said that the governor had done a whole lot of work in every sector to better the well-being and welfare of the people as well as the infrastructure in the state.
He added that the state is one of the most peaceful in the country due to the proactive measures by the governor.
“The governor’s community security mechanism has made the state safer, reducing insecurity and clashes between herders and farmers and has fostered peace thereby creating a conducive environment for economic growth and development,” he added.
He added that the regular logistics support to the security agencies had always been proactive and has also helped significantly in improving peace and unity amongst the different groups in the state.
Tanko further said that the government is working to invest in some of the tourist sites in the state and attract investors to generate employment and boost the economy of the state.(www.krestnews.com).
