Bala Bawaji Konkyel of the FRCN, Globe FM, Bauchi has been elected as the new Chairman of the Bauchi State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN}.

He was elected alongside other members of the new EXCO on Thursday to run the affairs of the Association for the next Three years in line with the Statute of the Association.

The Election was presided over by the North-East Zonal Vice President of SWAN, Comrade Ahmed Kagana Amshi with the support of the National Welfare Officer, Mr. Austin Ajayi and National EX-Officio, Alh Shehu Abass aka Osculator.

Other members of the newly elected State Executive are: Adamu Shehu Imrana of Trust TV, Vice Chairman, Elizabeth Kah of BATV, Secretary, Selya Yarnap of Champion Newspapers, Treasurer, Abubakar Usman Shehu of BATV, Financial Secretary, Imrana Yakubu Galaje of BRC, Welfare officer and Mubarak Aliyu Bako of Albarka FM – Assistant Secretary.

The duo of Mohammed Nasiru Shuaibu of Telegraph and Abdullahi Shehu Yankari of the Bauçhi state television BATV were appointed Ex-officio in a friendly and peace atmosphere held at the Conference Hall of the Bauchi State Secretariat of the NUJ.

In his remarks, the National President of SWAN, Comrade Isaiah Benjamin stressed the importance of unity and friendship among Sports Writers across the country considering the fact that they are responsible for making people relax with the various reports they write.

The National President abhor division among the members saying that he is only interested in having a strong, virile and united SWAN across the country.

He then charged the newly elected and sworn members of the EXCO to lead with the fair of God and carry all members along irrespective of affiliations before and during the elections

In his acceptance speech, the new brand Bauçhi SWAN chairman, Bala Bawaji konkiyel thanking Almighty Allah for given him the opportunity to witness this important day in our lives.

Let me on behalf of new executives of Bauchi state SWAN to expressed our deepens gratitude to the national secretariat under the leadership of Mr. Issiah Benjamen for sending two national officers, Zonal vice president North East Mr. Ahmad Kagana Amshi and National welfare officer, Mr Austin Ajayi, to come and supervised the whole process. And it went peace full and fruit full

As we are all aware, the election that was held today, usher-in a new set of official that would pilot the affairs of the association in Bauchi state for the next three years.

SWAN as critical stakeholder in sports development, we have suffered enough before reaching this point, therefore, we are going to take all issues with seriousness for the development of the association and sporting activities in the state.

I would like to call on the entire members of the association to please, support and cooperate with us, as we shouldered this important task of moving SWAN forward in Bauchi state.
