A former senator of Plateau northern senatorial district, Simon Mwadkon has commended governor Mutfwang for conducting free and fair local government elections.

Mwadkon who was speaking in Jos at a press briefing on Monday, described the recent local government election as one of the best and fair where other political parties won councillor seats. This, he said, demonstrates Mutfwang’s dedication to democracy and power devolution.

Simon Mwadkon, a former senate minority leader praised the governor for his commitment to democracy and local government autonomy.

While expressing optimism about the PDP’s chances of taking over power at the national level, he emphasised that the party is well-positioned to leverage the momentum generated by its success in the local government elections.

“The success of the local government elections in Plateau state can be attributed to Mutfwang’s commitment to democracy and the rule of law. His leadership has created an environment where political parties can thrive and contribute to the development of the state”; the former senator said.

Mwadkon noted that the PDP’s achievements in Plateau state demonstrate its ability to promote democracy and good governance, which could resonate with voters nationwide.

He however added that the local government elections in Plateau state have set a precedent for democracy and good governance in the country Nigeria.

He added that ” Mutfwang’s leadership and the PDP’s success have created a model for other states to follow, promoting democracy and power devolution”
