A veteran Broadcaster and retired Media Manager, Dr Musa Abdullahi has blamed the current economic hardship being faced by Nigerians on Nigerians who always take advantage of situations to exploit one another.
He said Nigerians, at the slightest. opportunity, love to exploit each other and called on those engaged in such act to desist from from such inhuman conduct which he said has agrevated the situation.
Dr Abdullahi was speaking as Guest Speaker at the one day Town Hall Engagement meeting in Lafia Nasarawa State enjoined Nigerians to desist from taking advantage of the economic challenges such as now to exploit each other.
The Town Hall was organised by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation is aimed at creating public awareness on the Federal Government Renewed Hope interventions to cushion the effect of the economic hardship.
Dr Musa Abdullahi, Retired Deputy Director of News, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and Resource Person at the meeting, blamed the increasing hardship on the circle of exploitation.
He explained that when each person takes advantage of others who patronize his or her goods or services and vice versa, the circle continues, and things get taught for everyone.
The resource person explained that the prices of goods and services had started going up at the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023, when he said that the subsidy was gone.
Musa believed that the government had decided to remove fuel subsidy and other policies with the best of intentions to better the living conditions of Nigerians.
He, however, said that, unfortunately, things have gotten worse at the moment, and prices of goods and services are out of control, thereby causing hardship to Nigerians.
He said that the people should criticize less and participate more by desisting from taking undue advantage of the situation to collectively improve the economy.
He also called on the Federal Government to evaluate some of the decisions they have taken so far with a view to improving them to achieve the desired results.
On his part, Aminu Muazu-Maifata, President of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) and Chairman of Lafia Local Government Area (LGA) lauded the ministry for creating the forum to carry Nigerians along in the activities of the federal government.
Muazu-Maifata represented by Mr Abubakar Laminu, his Chief of Staff, said that the government had done a lot to cushion the effect of the headship being faced due to the removal of fuel subsidy.
He expressed optimism that the decisions and actions taken by the federal government would make the economy of the country one of the best in Africa.
He appealed to Nigerians to be more patient with the government as they would soon see the benefit of the actions taken by the government.
On his part, Mallam Aminu Liman-Ari, Head of Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation in Nasarawa State, the meeting was to interact with members of the public on the policies and programmes of the government.
He explained that the president had embarked on several intervention programmes to boost businesses, bring people out of poverty and better the living standards of the people.
He listed some of the interventions by the federal government to includes; students loan scheme, consumer credit corporation, digital and creative enterprises programme, national youth talent export programme, housing initiative.
Others are; Nigerian Youth Academy, Nano-Business support, Skill-up Artisans Programme, Compressed Natural Gas among others.
The meeting had in attendance, youths organisation, market association, students bodies, civil society organisations among others.
