Rep. Jeremiah Umaru (APC, Akwanga/Nassarawa-Eggon/Wamba) at the House of Representatives has promised to support the Nasarawa-Based artists to enable them achieve their ambitions in the entertainment industry.
The law maker made the pledge on Friday at Keffi Mega Blast in Keffi Local Government Area (LGA), an event meant to showcase local musicians and comedians to the world.
Umaru who is the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts,
said that platforms such as this would help to identify local and young artists that would be promoted to national and international scene.
“I am committed to youth empowerment. supporting artists to grow is one of such avenues. Therefore, l will partner with you to grow Nasarawa based artists.
“It is time to equip the Nasarawa youths with the needed resources and opportunities necessary to thrive and contribute to nation-building,” he added.
Umaru noted that the youths represent the future of the state and the country and supporting thier careers in music and comedy would make their lives worthwhile.
“It would also serve as source of employment and make them unavailable for crimes and criminality,” he said.
The law maker promised to continue to sponsor bills and motions that would empower the Nigerian youths with the needed resources and technical know-how for nation building.
He also promised to support Nasarawa-Based artists in anyway within his ability to compete favourably at the national and international scene so as to project the state to the world.
Earlier, Convener of the programme, Steve Shammah-Anze, said the event which was done annually, was aimed at discovering talents, promoting capacity building and youth development.
The Convener added that a lot of talents were discovered through the yearly event in the state and are doing well on their own, but needed more support to excel.
He therefore, expressed gratitude to the law maker and other spirited individuals for their support and appealed for more.
The event featured presentations by some local artists as well as artists from outside the state which includes; ABC Dancers, Merger queens 2024, Small body,Access dancers (NAN).
