The Federal Government has allocated ₦940.5 billion to TETFund as a testament to its commitment to improving educational infrastructure and manpower, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said.
The President stated this at the weekend at the 33rd Convocation of Federal University of Technology, Minna
Admid debate on the scrapping of TETFund, the president announced that the N940.5bn has been allocated in the 2025 budget.
He said, “additionally, in the 2025 budget, we have allocated ₦940.5 billion to TETFund, a testament to our commitment to improving educational infrastructure and manpower”.
Represented by a director in the federal ministry of education, Hajiya Rikiya Iliyasu Gambo, the President said the federal government has made significant strides in supporting students across tertiary institutions through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
He said, “To date, NELFUND has disbursed over ₦104 billion in loans, benefiting more than 600,000 students, ensuring that financial challenges do not hinder access to quality education”.
In an address, the Chancellor ofvthe Federal University of Technology Minna, His Imperial Majesty, Obama Aladetoyibo Ogunlade Aladelusi (Odundun II) Deji of Akure appealed to the presidency to reconsider the proposed phasing out of TETFund, adding that ” they play a critical role in supporting the development of our institutions “.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta in a convocation address explained that 5,816 students graduated for the 2023/2024 academic session, adding that, “in-line with our commitment to delivering cutting edge education, the University has introduced seven new academic programmes which align with contemporary societal needs and national development”.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger state and that of Kaduna state, Uba Sani were honoured with Doctorate Degrees in Agriculture and Enterpreneurship respectively while the Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Sani Musa got awarded Doctor of Technology of the University.(www.krestnews.com).
