Nasarawa State Police Command says operatives attached to Angwan Lambu Division, Keffi have smashed a gang notorious one chance arm robbery suspects.

According to the police,they have arrested the duo of Chibuieze Orji ‘M’ 52yrs and Jibrin Mohammed ‘M’ 45yrs, members of one chance armed robbery gang gang which had been operating on the Akwanga-Keffi-Abuja express way.

The Police in a statement issued by the Command Public Relations Officer,DSP Ramhan Nansel, says that operational Vehicle/exhibits were recovered from the suspects

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects usually pose as taxi drivers to pick unsuspecting passengers, drive away to unknown destinations, and dispossess them of money and other belongings, after which the victims are abandoned while they take to flight.

The police said the suspects have confessed to the commission of the crime and that they have been operating for over 10yrs and robbed a lot of people.

“They further disclosed that they were recently released from Shendam Correctional Centre in Plateau State, for similar offence after serving their terms.

Items recovered from the suspects according to the police include a Toyota Carina II vehicle with registration number Abuja CO 212 ABC, one Axe and a Hammer.

The statement says the State Commissioner of Police CP Umar Shehu Nadada has ordered that the suspects be charged to court for prosecution upon conclusion of investigation; and assured members of the public that the Command would be relentless in its fight against crime in the State and solicit for public support and collaboration.
