Rep. Jeremiah Umaru (APC- Akwanga/Nasarawa-Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency), in collaboration with Ahmed Abimiku Healthcare Foundation, has donated 100 tricycles-wheelchairs to disabled constituents.

Speaking during the distribution on Sunday in Akwanga Local Government Area (LGA), the lawmaker said that the gesture was aimed at mitigating the suffering of the beneficiaries.

Umaru, represented by Bala John, his campaign Director General, said that all vulnerable groups would be carried along in his effort to improve the welfare and well-being of his constituents.

He said that the tricycles-wheelchairs would serve as mobility and help provide an immediate means of transportation to enable them to move with ease.

He further explained that people living with a disability face numerous challenges in their lives, especially for the fact that most of them are from poor families.

“As a result, many of them do not go to school or engage in trades and businesses because of the conditions they find themselves in.

“We will support them in their studies, engage in trades, artisanship, and other businesses to earn a living rather than engaging in begging,” the lawmaker added.

The Rep member urged them to see ability in their disability and promised to do everything possible to support their education and empowerment.

He said that the beneficiaries were selected across the 35 electoral wards of the Federal Constituency without recourse to their political affiliations, tribes, or religion.

He, therefore, promised to continue to initiate programs in various sectors to empower his constituents to justify their support for him at the polls.

Also speaking at the event, Ahmed Abimiku, Founder of the Healthcare Foundation, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for the partnership aimed at putting smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries.

Abimiku added that the initiative was also supported by the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre Jos.

He, therefore, said that each beneficiary got one tricycles-wheelchair free and urged them to use them to aid their movements and not sell them. (www.krestnews.com).
