Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang said his administration is committed to implementing the anti-land-grabbing law passed by his predecessor, Senator Simon Lalong.

The governor, who disclosed this shortly after the Committee Task Force for the 
Resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), presented its report at Little Rayfield in Jos on Monday.

He vowed to retrieve all the communities and villages taken over by unknown gunmen across the state. Saying
that individuals cannot simply take over people’s land as if it does not belong to anyone.

He assured that settling or occupying someone else’s land as though it were theirs is uncivilized, adding that all lands belong to the society and that anyone wishing to acquire land must follow the proper procedures. 

“Let me remind everyone that the Lalong administration enacted an anti-land-grabbing law. We are looking at how to enforce the law; we’re looking at how to enforce the laws. People cannot just see a piece of land and just occupy it. There is no vacant land anywhere in the world; somebody has a claim on it, and we are not going to allow that to happen.

Speaking early, the chairman of the committee, Air Commodore Christopher Pam, said the committee recommended deployment of sufficient military, police, and community-based vigilante forces in all the volatile areas.

He said, “We equally recommended construction of 14 new mini-barracks or outposts in strategic locations, which were named in our reports to complement the one already established in Gashishi through Kura Falls.

Barr. Isaac Dimka while p presenting his committee’s report said they were inaugurated on 25th March 2024 and 10 terms of reference. Their report is 167 pages consisting of petitions, recommendations and requested for new aster plan for the state.
The committee’s both thank Govenor Mutfwang for finding them worthy to serve.

The Governor also received twenty thousand bags of rice from the Plateau State representive of Dangote foundation group, Bashir Adamu as support to internally displaced persons in the state.

Governor Mutfwang and Sunday Abdu, the Plateau executive secretary of State Emergency Management Agency, appreciated the group for its kind gesture and assured that all items will be delivered to the beneficiaries.
