New political appointees have been administered oath of office by the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang who implored them to engage in agriculture to feed the nation and create wealth for themselves and the development of the state.
Krestnews reports that the governor was speaking after swearing in of 24 Special Advisers and inauguration of Head of Government Agencies and Constituency Liaison Officers which took place on Monday, March 4, at Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos.
Governor Mutfwang congratulated the appointees and charged them to be patriotic, dedicated, and committed to selfless services to the state and the nation. He said they have been chosen based on their merit, experience, and competence, and he expects them to deliver on their various mandates.
Speaking, he said that his administration plans to create an enabling environment that would accommodate more people in government within the limited resources; appealing for patience and understanding from those who are yet to benefit any appointment.
He assured that he will run an all inclusive administration that is responsive to the yearnings and aspirations of all Plateau people.
He expressed his determination to bequeath a united and prosperous Plateau, where people irrespective of faith, ethnic and regional affiliations will carry out their peaceful businesses to the greater interest of the people, the state and the nation. He said his government is working hard to improve the security, infrastructure, health, education, and agriculture sectors of the state.
The Governor urged the appointees to join hands with him to create wealth for the state, saying the country is facing one of its worst economic challenges at the moment. He explained that the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inherited the most turbulent economic downturn since 1999 and solicited the prayer and commitment of Nigerians in addressing the situation.
Mutfwang called on the Special Advisers to put on their thinking caps and look for investors who will invest in the state to create means of sourcing revenue to grow the state. He said Plateau State has a lot of potentials and opportunities in agriculture, tourism, mining, and other sectors that can attract local and foreign investors.
He tasked Constituency Liaison Officers to step-down government activities to their respective Local Governments to keep people abreast of government policies and achievements.
The governor also advised them to be good ambassadors of their constituencies and report any issues or challenges that may require government intervention.
Special Adviser on National Assembly to the Governor, Rt. Hon. George us also a former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Daika thanked the Governor for choosing them for the assignments and assured him of the commitment of his colleagues to deliver effective service to the state.
He said they were grateful for the opportunity and privilege to serve the state and the nation. He pledged their loyalty and support to the Governor and his vision for Plateau State.
