The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has thrown its full weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, endorsing him as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The endorsement came during a high-powered stakeholders’ meeting held in Jos, which brought together top political figures including the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshewe; former Governor and party leader, Senator Simon Bako Lalong; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Idris Wase; former Governor Joshua Dariye; former Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen; and the MD/CEO of the North Central Development Commission, Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, among others.

Barr. Festus Fuanter, a former Deputy National Secretary of the APC, moved the motion for Tinubu’s endorsement, which was seconded by the state APC Woman Leader, Hon. Alice Dimlong, and unanimously adopted by the party faithful present.

Fuanter also proposed a motion rejecting any plan to admit Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang into the APC—a move that was equally supported by the gathering.

Speaking after the endorsement, Senator Simon Lalong said the decision was well-deserved, describing President Tinubu as a leader who has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of Nigerians while recognizing Plateau’s contribution to his political success. He highlighted Tinubu’s continuous support to the state, including the recent appointment of Prof. Nentawe as APC National Chairman, as a “blessing that will open doors for Plateau people.”

According to Lalong, the APC in Plateau is now united, with all internal differences resolved and many members who previously defected returning to the fold. “We are stronger, more focused, and ready to reclaim our place in governance,” he said.

Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshewe, the APC National Chairman, thanked party stakeholders for their overwhelming confidence in President Tinubu. He praised the President’s economic reforms and commitment to national development, assuring that “the best is yet to come under his leadership.”

He announced October 30, 2025, as the date for a grand reception of new members and returnees into the party—an event expected to be graced by Vice President Kashim Shettima. The occasion will be chaired by Arch. P.D. Gyang of the APC Elders Committee.

Prof. Nentawe also revealed plans to launch a ₦100 million Youth Business Challenge next week and a state-wide empowerment initiative targeting women and special groups.

Other dignitaries, including Hon. Idris Wase, Rt. Hon. Daniel Naanlong Gapyil, and Dame Pauline Tallen, commended the renewed unity within the party, emphasizing the need to sustain peace, discipline, and teamwork as the APC prepares for future elections.
