During his campaign, Governor Abdullahi Sule pledged to operate an open and inclusive administration, encouraging citizen participation and feedback. This commitment to transparency has been instrumental in fostering a strong relationship between the government and the people.
In 2023, a remarkable incident exemplified the Governor’s dedication to accessibility. A group of three youth in Lafia were discussing the Governor’s performance. Their conversation revealed that Governor Sule was not making contact with the youth who had worked hard for him. However, one of them boasted that he could contact the Governor whenever he wished. The other two laughed at him and challenged him, asking if he had the Governor’s phone number.
The young man laughed back, picked up his phone, and told his friends that he not only had the number but could call the Governor right then. On speakerphone, he dialed the number, and the Governor answered, saying “Hello.” With great pride, the young man responded, “Your Excellency, ka na nan lafiya? Na kira in gaishe ka ne.” The Governor replied, “ nagode .Ba damuwa ko?” and the young man answered, “Ba damuwa sir, nagode.” He laughed to the amazement of his friends.
This scenario demonstrates how easily people can call the Governor and provide input. For the past five years, Governor Abdullahi Sule has shown tremendous openness in dealing with the people of the state. He responds to calls, text messages, and even letters, regardless of the sender’s status. This has endeared him to the common people of the state, a rarity among Governors and other leaders
For five years, Governor Sule has consistently demonstrated his commitment to transparency, responding to calls, texts, and letters from all members of the public. This openness has earned him widespread appreciation and admiration
Governor Sule’s experience in the private sector has taught him the importance of feedback loops in governance. He has set a high standard for leadership, showing that campaign promises can be kept and that a leader can remain connected to the people even in office.
While opinions about Governor Sule may vary, his dedication to transparency and citizen engagement is undeniable. He has kept his promise, and his commitment to moving Nasarawa state forward with unity and inclusivity is clear.
