In a bid to promote the study of geology and mining in Nigeria, Onshore Frontiers Nigeria Limited donated the sum of Five Million Naira to the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai (IBBUL) dedicated to capacity building of staff and students of the Department of Geology & Mining.
The Group Managing Director of the company, Mr. Makoji Aduku made the donation public during a meeting with the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu, Thursday September 19.
“This is part of the company’s step towards sustainable harnessing of Nigeria’s hydrocarbon, solid mineral and water resources and as well as control of natural hazards and climate change impacts. It is our commitment to geological field studies and interpretation”.
He urged the management of the university to ensure that the fund is beneficial to both the staff and students of the Department of Geology with more emphasis on the students.
Mr Aduku emphasized that the donation to the University should benefit the staff and students of the Department of Geology & Mining with more emphasis on the students.
Mr. Makoji Aduku who earlier delivered a keynote lecture at the NMGS/NAPE, IBBUL Students Chapter Earth Week programme, said the fund would be coordinated by the NNPC Professorial Chair,Professor Nuhu Obaje
According to him, ” I held discussion with NNPC Professorial Chair in Basinal Studies who is also the Head of the Department of Geology & Mining, Chair Professor Nuhu Obaje, who expressed the desire of the Department to commit the donation to a detailed study of the Middle Benue Trough within which Ebenyi-A well ongoing drilling by the NNPCL is located.
The Vice Chancellor Professor Abu Kasim Adamu said Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University , “IBBUL is very proud of Mr. Makoji Aduku and his companies’ corporate social responsibilities. We appreciate the kind donations to enhance the academic activities of the department of geology and mining of the University”.
