Amidst rising security in parts of Nasarawa State, Rep Jeremiah Umaru demonstrated and spurned by passion for unity and resilience for sustainable peace, organised a sensitization session on peace and unity among the people of Akwanga, Wamba, Nasarawa Eggon Federal Constituency.

The Deputy Chairman House Committee on Public Accounts and Member Representing Akwanga/Wamba/Nasarawa Eggon Federal Constituency, Hon. Jeremiah Umaru, has consistently placed his faith in the potential of his constituents in recognizing their dynamism, innovation, and fervor as formidable catalysts for transformation and peace building, thereby placing them at the forefront of the mission to mend communities, restore trust, and revitalize the societal framework.

Working in Cohort with the the National Orientation Agency(NOA), organised a one day sensitization session on peace and unity among the good people of Akwanga, Wamba and Nasarawa Eggon Federal Constituency at the Trish Hall, Kini Country Home, Akwanga, Nasarawa State with a view to tackling the resurgence of security challenge which is unsettling communities within the Federal Constituency with a view to bringing forth ways to achieving lasting peace and unity among the people.

The event which was interactive, brought together traditional rulers, youths, security operatives, community stakeholders, and religious leaders to brainstorm on the way forward towards achieving a lasting peace and unity in the constituency.

The engagement brought about initiatives that served as a testament to substantial potential in driving peace within the communities with ripple effect reverberating far beyond neighbourhoods.

The resource person, Mr. Bashir Idris Garna, Director of North Central NEMA, challenged on the imperative for leaders to be able to recognize peace related challenges, develop non violent solutions through open communication and effective collaboration with various stakeholders to cultivate a culture of peace and love for human kind.

He enjoined participants to educate their peers and community members on their pivotal role in establishing enduring peace.

The Resource person enjoined them to pioneer initiatives that foster inclusivity, a deep respect for diversity, and the constructive management of conflicts, all in pursuit of a more equitable and harmonious society.

The Managing Director of Gosima Group, Abuja, Dr Gideon Osi and a philanthropist added glamour to the event by giving out scholarship to 3 students from the Northern Senatorial District.

The scholarship was equitably distributed; one each from the 3 Local Government Areas of Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon and Wamba which made up the Federal Constituency as part of his contributions to the development of education sector which is one of the nine points agenda of Sabon Salo Movement.

Krestnews reports that the summit had high profile personalities that graced the occasion, among them were Engr. Eugene Ashinyokam Rep. Federal Ministry of Special Duties, Office of the Secretary to the Government of Federation, Mr. David Akoji, Director Special Duties/State Operations who represented the Director General NOA, Hassan J. Galadima, Nigerian Correctional Service, Nasarawa Northern Senatorial District, Ogah Tanimu K, Nigerian Immigration Service, Akwanga Division and Major JS Yarth, Sub-Sector Commander Nasarawa North and Kokona LGC.

Others include Hon. Kwanta Yakubu Bohar, Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources(Represented The Executive Governor Of Nasarawa State), Hon. Safiyanu Isah Andaha, Chairman Akwanga LGC, HRH Pastor Samson Gamu Yare, Chun Mada, HRH Amb. Habila Aboki, Chun Nku, HRH Alhaji Sule Bawa, Sarkin Gudi, HRH Mondeh Toma Chagga, Chu Buh, HRH Alhaji Yusuf Amwe, Chun Ngah, Representatives of all security agencies in the constituency, women groups and politicians.
