Nigerian Breweries, Nigeria’s foremost brewing company, has inaugurated a state of the-art Maltina Skills Acquisition Centre in Kakuri, Kaduna, as part of its ongoing efforts to empower residents of its host communities.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony,
Managing Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mr. Hans Essaadi, described the commissioning as a major milestone in the company’s pursuit of sustainable development and community empowerment.

“This centre is a testament to our commitment to building a future full of opportunities—especially for women and youth in Kakuri,” Essaadi said.

“In a fast changing world, skill development is essential to economic transformation. Through this project, we are tackling unemployment with practical, marketable solutions.”

He disclosed that the centre will offer training in a range of vocations, including tailoring, shoemaking, catering, hairdressing, ICT, and other trades vital for financial independence.

He urged beneficiaries to seize the opportunity to embark on a journey of personal and economic transformation.

Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, hailed the project as a landmark initiative that will unlock new opportunities and drive economic independence for young people across the state.

“This centre is more than just a structure it represents dreams, aspirations, and a pathway to economic freedom,” Balarabe said.

“The skills acquired here will not only empower beneficiaries but also contribute to the local economy and inspire more youths to pursue self-development.”

She lauded Nigerian Breweries for its strong commitment to corporate social responsibility, noting that the project aligns perfectly with the vision of Governor Uba Sani’s administration to promote youth empowerment through modern skills acquisition.

“The Kaduna State Government recognises the critical role of vocational and ICT skills in today’s world. This centre will help turn job seekers into job creators, significantly reducing unemployment and fostering self-reliance,” she added.

Balarabe reaffirmed the government’s readiness to provide a conducive environment for private sector growth and meaningful community impact.

The Emir of Zazzau, Amb Ahmed Bamali, represented by the District Head of Makera, Alhaji Shehu Tijani, commended Nigerian Breweries for its longstanding contributions to community development.

He noted that for over 60 years, the company has supported the Kakuri community through youth and women empowerment programmes, internship opportunities, and sponsorship of Quranic recitation competitions.

The Emir urged the company to continue supporting the centre through regular maintenance to ensure its sustainability.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that , Nigerian Breweries Plc a member of the HEINEKEN Group, Nigerian Breweries Plc is Nigeria’s pioneer and largest brewing company.

NAN also reports ,the the company was established in 1946, it began operations in 1949 with the launch of STAR lager.

” The company now boasts 19 premium brands including Heineken, Maltina, Amstel Malta, Gulder, and Fayrouz, produced across nine breweries and two malting plants nationwide.
