Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has presented a N1.3 trillion 2026 appropriation bill, tagged the “Budget of Consolidation,” to the State House of Assembly in Minna.
The budget allocates 73.81% (over N761bn) to capital expenditure and 26.19% (over N270bn) to recurrent spending, highlighting the administration’s focus on infrastructure, economic growth, and service delivery.
Governor Bago said the budget will be funded through statutory allocations, VAT, IGR, FAAC receipts, grants, and loans. He added that the economic sector received the highest allocation, while transportation got the lowest.
Key priorities include job and wealth creation, agricultural transformation, improved healthcare, road infrastructure, education, digital media transformation, security consolidation, and completion of ongoing water and power projects.
According to the governor, the budget reflects citizens’ trust and the government’s resolve to prudently manage resources despite economic challenges.
