The Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) has announced the deployment of 5,249 trained ad-hoc staff for the conduct of the Local Government Elections slated for November 1, 2025.
Chairman of the Commission, Engr. Jibrin Imam, disclosed this on Thursday during the distribution of sensitive election materials in Minna, emphasizing that every logistics detail had been carefully planned to ensure a smooth, credible, and transparent election process.
According to him, non-sensitive materials have already been delivered to all 25 Local Government Electoral Officers (EOs), while the early distribution of sensitive materials aims to eliminate last-minute logistical hitches.
“We are distributing materials across 4,950 polling units, 274 wards, and 25 local government areas, covering both chairmanship and councillorship elections. Ad-hoc staff are on ground in every polling unit and ward as returning officers, supervisors, and polling clerks,” he stated.
Engr. Imam further assured that all constitutional processes had been followed diligently, with no reported complaints from political parties, observers, or security agencies.
He called on political actors to abide by the peace accord they signed and reiterated NSIEC’s commitment to a level playing field for all candidates and parties.
The NSIEC boss also pledged that no eligible voter would be disenfranchised, explaining that arrangements have been made for residents in banditry-prone areas to vote safely. He added that boats and security escorts have been mobilized for riverine communities to ensure full electoral participation.
“Our goal is to deliver free, fair, and credible elections that reflect the will of the people,” Imam assured. Follow www.krestnews.com for more reports
