The Niger State House of Assembly has thrown the State Governor’s N50 Billion Loan request being offered by the State by Access Bank,PLC

The facility, according to Governor Mohammed Umar Bago will be used to finance the establishment of an Agricultural Food Park and Farm Estate.

Requesting for the facility, the Governor said the it seeks to support the State Government initiative for actualising the ongoing Green Economy Resolution of the State.

He said that it will create value chain for farm produce in ensuring bumper harvest and food security for the state and the country in general

However, debating on the report of the House Committee on the request for approval of the facility, the Assembly on Thursday, said that the governor did not provide enough evidence on how it intends to spend the fund.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Mohammed Sarkin-Daji at the plenary explained that lawmakers being the representatives of the people should be furnished with details of every Kobo and how it intends to expend the funds, assuring that it will not be business as usual.

Other members argued that the executive should be specific on where the agricultural food parks and farm estates will be located and the role of local government in the process.

The House during the plenary approved the request of the state Governor to Access the N15 billion contract financing facility offered by Access Bank PLC for the take off of the newly established Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna, Niger State.
