Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdukadir Muhammad has sworn in newly elected Local Government Chairmen and their deputies following their victory in the Saturday election.

Krestnews reports that all the 20 LGs and 323 Councillorship seats were won by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Except 3 Councillors from other political parties

Among the chairmen is the first elected female, Hajara Gidado, who took the oath of allegiance and office as the Executive Chairperson of Itas/Gadau LGC.

The Governor called on the Executive Chairpersons to perform effectively as an autonomous tier of governance, as the electorate at the various LGAs will be up to them for impactful democratic administration.

He urged them to work in synergy with their deputies and councillors in order to provide dividends of democracy to the people as well as support the administration in achieving the Bauchi Project.

Bala Muhammad also advised the chairpersons to do everything possible to avert a repeat of the recent nationwide protest against bad governance, tagged #EndBadGovernmentinNigeria.

According to him, “Let me remind you that you are stewards, and you will definitely give an account of your stewardship to Allah, who gave you the opportunity to be elected.”

“I therefore urge you to be accountable and diligently utilise the monthly allocation that comes to you from the Federation Account. Use it to better the lives of the people; give them food to kill the hunger and anger in them.”

Bala Muhammad emphasised his administration’s commitment to collaborative governance, pledging to work hand-in-hand with the newly elected chairpersons in order to drive development and prosperity in the state.

He urged them to prioritise the welfare of their constituents, ensuring that the dividends of democracy reached the grassroots.

According to him, the inauguration ceremony was a testament to the strength of democracy in Bauchi State, showcasing the unity and solidarity of its people.

The oaths of allegiance and office were administered to the 20 LGC Chairpersons by the State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, at the Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu Arena, Government House, Bauchi
