The NDE explained that the training programme which is mostly in the area of small-scale fish and poultry farming as well as crop production.
Krestnews reports that over six hundred youths from twelve states across the country have been trained in various aspects of agriculture under the National Directorate of Employment NDE Agricultural Scheme.
The Director General stated that the programme was in furtherance to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through food sufficiency.
Speaking during the occasion, some of the beneficiaries of the scheme called for the establishment of a Youth in Agriculture Trust Fund to reduce the high rate of unemployment and insecurity in the country.
The training programme which is aimed at youth empowerment through agriculture for self reliance and wealth creation centred mostly on small-scale fish and poultry farming as well as crop production.
The Director General represented by the Nasarawa State Coordinator of the National Directorate of Employment Mr Christopher Bamsida said beneficiaries got training in the agricultural value chains including production, storage, processing, and technological driven skills.

Two of the beneficiaries Mr Tsaku Usman and Miss Zuwaira Mohammed who expressed gratitude said the gesture will no doubt spur them to commit themselves more to the ideal of National food security envisioned by the governments in the country.
They further re-echoed the appeal earlier to government for the establishment of a Trust Fund to engage more young people in the agricultural value chain programme.
