Umar Nada, Commissioner of Police (CP) in Nasarawa State has vowed to flush out the kidnappers and other criminals in Dedere community of Obi Local Government Area (LGA) and other parts of the state.
The commissioner of police made the commitment while he received the delegation of the Deere Youth Organisation on Monday in Lafia, state capital.
He explained that the police and other security agencies are seriously working toward addressing the challenges and ensure that the entire state is secured.
Nadada added that the state government had promised to further assist the police and other sister agencies with more logistics to enable them tackle the menace.
He said that security is not just the responsibility of the government and security agencies alone, but, a collective responsibility and urged every citizen to partner the police on that regard.
“Members of the public must support us and assist us with useful information about criminals and thier hideouts to enable us tackle them and ensure that all communities are safe.
“We are ready at anytime to respond when the public gives us information about criminals, because that is our mandate.
“When you see something, say something, to enable us do something in order to secure the state,” the CP added.
On the issues raised by the organisation, the CP assured them that immediate actions would be taken to increase the presence of their personnel in the area.
On the complain by the organisation that some suspects that were arrested by the vigilante were released few days after arrest, the CP say they should provide the police with their names.
He added that the police would investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding their release and take further action.
Earlier, Sani Yakubu, Chairman, Dedere Youth Organisation decried the incessant kidnapping and armed robbery in the area.
He explained that so many people from the area are relocating to Lafia and other safer locations for fear of being kidnapped and attack.
“Four suspects that were arrested by the vigilante were released few days later and this is not the first time the same suspects were being arrested in the area,” he added.
He therefore, appealed that the police post in the area be made a divisional headquarters. (NAN).
