In line with the global best practice, the host community Ebenyi A oil well in Obi Local Government and Lafia East Development Area have advocated for the management of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC to engage them in the implementation of Cooperate Social Responsibility, CSR, in the area.
Krestnews reports that the Host Communities made the appeal for inclusion in the implementation of the Cooperate Social Responsibility through the Osuko of Obi Alhaji Aliyu Danguwa Ogiri Orume while receiving the visiting Managing Director of NNPCL with her team in his Palace, early in the week.
The Osuko of Obi, Alh Aliyu Danguwa Ogiri Orume flanked by the Ossakyo of Owusakyo, Osula Inarigu and Osoho of Olosoho Dr. Umar Abubakar Apeshi, appreciated God for the natural endowment bestowed on them in the area, describing the visit of the Management of the NNPCL as historic which further proofed the desire and seriousness of the Federal Government in seeing the reality of the important project which is for the benefits of oil host communities, Nasarawa State and the country at large.
The Monarch informed his guests that in order to enhance good relationship and to create a conducive environment for the company, the three Chiefdoms have constituted oil and gas committees to serve as a link between the company and the communities for feedback mechanism and to ensure success of the project in the locality.
He then emphasised that it is high time for NNPC to commence the implementation of it Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the area which is inline with the global best practice for the betterment of the host communities saying, since the commissioning of Ebenyi A Oil Well last year by the former President Mohammadu Buhari, it has been a rising hope for the Communities.
“It is on the basis of this development that we deem it imperative to request the company to avail to us a copy of the environmental impact assessment to enable us creat more awareness among our people “.
Earlier, the Managing Director NNPC, Mrs. Sufiya Edom represented by the Director Frontier Exploration Services, Muktar Zanna said, the visit was to strengthen the relationship between the company and the host communities.
” We are here to thank you for the peace we have been enjoying in this community, we have listened to the request made by the host communities, we will take back the message for the management to look into. We will continue to partner with you to ensure the success of the project”.
