Nasarawa State, Nigeria – In a bold move to address the evolving security challenges in the state, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa, His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, presided over an Expanded Emergency Security Council Meeting at the Government House in Lafia.
The high-level gathering brought together key stakeholders, including the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, members of the Executive Council, Local Government Chairmen, security chiefs, traditional rulers, youth organizations, student union leaders, labor unions, religious leaders, and civil society organizations.
The meeting, held in the Exco chamber, underscored Governor Sule’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the people of Nasarawa State. In his opening remarks, the governor emphasized the importance of collective effort and strengthened collaboration in tackling the multifaceted security concerns that have been a cause for concern in the state.

“Security is a collective responsibility,” Governor Sule stated, “and we must work together, across all sectors and levels of government, to find lasting solutions to the challenges we face.”
The expanded security council provided a platform for open dialogue, information-sharing, and the formulation of a comprehensive strategy to address the security threats. Participants discussed various aspects of security, including intelligence gathering, community engagement, crime prevention, and response coordination.

Recognizing the crucial role of traditional rulers, youth organizations, and religious leaders in maintaining social cohesion and fostering community-level security, Governor Sule encouraged their active involvement in the ongoing efforts to enhance the state’s security landscape.
“Our traditional rulers, youth, and religious leaders are the backbone of our communities,” the governor said. “Their participation and input are essential in shaping effective security solutions that address the unique needs and concerns of our people.”
The meeting also saw the emergence of concrete action plans, with the attendees committing to work closely with the state government and security agencies to implement targeted interventions and strengthen the overall security framework in Nasarawa.

As the state continues to navigate the complex security landscape, the Expanded Emergency Security Council Meeting convened by Governor Sule stands as a testament to his administration’s proactive approach and unwavering determination to ensure the safety and well-being of the people of Nasarawa State.
