Crisis has reportedly hit the leading opposition party the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Nasarawa State as a High Court Judge sitting in Doma, Nasarawa South has halted the party which was scheduled to take place on Saturday 28 September
The Court decision followed an application brought before it by some aggrieved key stakeholders of the Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, including Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, representing Nasarawa South at the National Assembly, and his predecessor, Senator Suleiman Adokwe.
Other notable aggrieved members of the party that sought the court injunction are the former Deputy Governor Mike Abdul, retired General Nuhu Angbazo, Hon. Abdulkarim Usman Ombamas, Nathaniel Aboki, Jubril Sabo Keana, Adamu E. Oyanki, and Musa Elayo.
These stakeholders prayed before Honourable Justice Abdullahi H. Shams Shama, seeking to restrain the Francis Orogu-led PDP executives from conducting the congresses.
Justice Abdullahi Shama ruled in favor of the applicants, issuing an interim injunction that restrains the PDP’s Nasarawa State Chapter from conducting the congresses at the Ward, Local Government, and State levels. The injunction remains in effect until a motion on notice is heard.
The court has set October 3, 2024, for further hearing on the matter.
The State Party Chairman, Francis Orogu was upto the time of this report yet to respond to the development and the Court decision.
