Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has organized a 3day training workshop for Members, Management and Committee Secretaries of the House on the conduct of Legislative duties with focus on effective public hearing.
This is aimed at strengthening the capacity of the legislators for effective legislative proceedings and good governance in the State.
The training worksop holding at Makurdi, the Benue State capital was organized by Multiventures Resources Ltd, and is aimed at acquitting participants on the fundamentals of conducting public hearing, the legislative perspective.


The Speaker said that the workshop would not only impact positively on the lawmakers but would enable for the enactment of good laws but promote good governance in the state.
” First and foremost, I want to appreciate His Excellency, Engr.. Abdullahi Sule for approving the workshop as it will go a long way improve our skills and knowledge in the art of legislating for the governance of the State and people.
“It will enable us to get knowledge on the rudiments of public hearing which will help us in passing a bill or bills into laws that will reflect on the general aspirations of our people,” he said
The Speaker also assured Gov. Sule of the 7th Assembly’s commitment under his leadership to give him all the necessary support and cooperation to succeed.
” I want to use this medium to assure His Excellency, Engr. A A Sule of our commitment to effectively partner with the Executive and to give him all the necessary and needed support to succeed,” he said
He urged the participants to take the workshop with all the seriousness it deserves in order to acquire more knowledge on how to conduct public hearing in the House.
“The importance of Public hearing to legislative practice and good governance could not be overemphasized, let’s take the training serious in our interest and in the interest of the state,”
The Speaker further assured the lawmakers and staff of the House of his continued determination to initiate good policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on their lives.
The Speaker used the forum to call on the people of the State to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and live peacefully with one another for the overall development of the State.
Also speaking, Hon Jonah Ali, Chairman, House Committee on Information thanked Gov Sule for the speedy approval of the workshop
” I also want to appreciate the Speaker, Rt. Hon Danladi Jatau for facilitating the workshop,” he said
Hon Jonah said that the workshop is interesting, good and impactful as it would boost legislative practice.
Earlier, Hon Abdulhamid Kwarra, the Consultant/CEO, Multiventures Resources LTD appreciated the mutual relationship between the House and Multiventures over the years in the area of training of members and staff of the House.

Hon Kwarra appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule, Speaker Danladi Jatau for their efforts in seeing that legislators are equipped with the requisite Legislative training that will impact on the service delivery to the people and the State.
In his presentation, Mr Cyril Ogah, a retired Director of Publications who spoke on Legislative Public Hearing : Theory and Practice said that public hearing was very necessary in getting the views of the public on issues affecting their lives.
The retired Director said that the purpose of public hearing was to get inputs from stakeholders among others for making good laws and good governance.
