Nasarawa State House of Assembly has announced it would resume plenary on Monday February 12, after 7 weeks long period of recess.

Chairman House Commiitte on Information,Hon. Ali Dezaho made this disclosure while brief journalists in Lafia ahead of their resumption

Speaking on their resolve as a House to ensure that the make citizen laws for the governance of the State, urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to adhere strictly to the provisions of the 2024 budget and to also ensure its full implementation to achieve the desire objective of the budget.

Hon. Ali Dezaho who represents Karu/Gitata constituency said that the House would query any MDA that violated the provisions of the 2024 budget.

” We have appropriated and passed the 2024 budget into law and the Governor has also ascended to it. We will ensure that MDAs use the funds appropriated to them in the budget judiciously

” He disclosed that in the course of their oversight, they will ensure that the money appropriated for capital projects, are efficiently utilised for capital project

” And we will also ensure that the money appropriated for recurrent expenditure is best used for the recurrent expenditure”, he said.

Hon Ali urged the MDAs to adhere strictly to their budget provisions in the interest of peace and for the overall development of the state.We will query any off the budget expenditure”, he stressed

The lawmaker said that the people of the State should expect robust legislation from the House, as it would be resuming from its recess on Monday, February 12, 2024 with high spirit.

“During the recess, members were well equipped after meeting with their constituents as we also went on research during the recess as well as attended training workshop” he said

He explained that the essence of the recess is to meet with their constituents, knows their problems and to attend to their problems and legislate on some of the issues brought before us during the recess.

The Information Chairman called for team work and cordial working relationship among members and staff of the House for the overall development of the state.

He assured the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Danladi Jatau of the members commitment to give him their maximum support to succeed.

Krestnews recalls that on Dec. 20, 2023, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed the 2024 appropriation bill of N199.9 billion into law and thereafter proceeded on recess.

The House is expected to, on resumption tomorrow Monday, have the Speaker Rt.Hon. Danladi Jatau swear in two lawmakers Hon. Muhammed Adamu Omadefu (APC Keana) and Hon. Musa Abubakar Ibrahim (NNPP Doma South) who won their elections at the just concluded re-run elections in their various State Constituencies.
