The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has has proceeded on recess to enable Muslim Muslim members observed this year’s Ramadan season.

The announced the commencement of the Recess during plenary after the House passed into law a Bill for a Law to Amend, Repeal and Re-Enact the Nasarawa State Harmonization and Administration of Revenue Law and For Purposes Connected Therewith.

The House also passed into law Bill for a Law to Amend College of Agriculture, Science and Technology Lafia, Nasarawa State 2020 and other Matters Connected Thereof.

Rt. Hon Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the House announced the passage of the two bills into law during the House plenary session today, Wednesday 6, in Lafia

Speaking on the import of the revenue harmonisation bill, the Speaker said the bill when assented to by Gov. Abdullahi Sule would curtail multiple taxation and boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.

In addition, he explained that the bill when assented to by the State Governor, it will address challenges associated with revenue collection in the State generally.

On College of Agriculture, Science and Technology bill, the Speaker explained that the bill if assented to by the Governor seeks to give effect to the change in the nomenclature of the headship of the institution from Provost to Rector and Deputy Provost to Deputy Rector in line with her new status.

The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the resolution of the House to Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his further necessary action.

Earlier, Hon Suleiman Yakubu Azara, the Majority Leader of the House moved motions for the two bills to scale third readings which was seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon Luka Iliya Zhekaba and was. unanimously passed into law.

Meanwhile the House deliberated on the report of the House Committee on Education, Science and Technology on a Bill for a Law to Establish the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute Lafia and for other matters connected Thereof.

The Speaker slated 15th April, 2024 for the passage of the bill into law.

Earlier, Hon Suleiman Yakubu Azara, the Majority Leader moved a motion for the adoption of the committee report and was seconded by the House Majority Leader,Hon Luka Iliya Zhekaba

While the motion for the House to proceed on Ramadan break was moved by the Majority Leader Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara and seconded by Hon. Luka Zhekaba, the Minority Leader of the House and the House was adjourned until April 15th, 2024 as announced by the RT. Hon Speaker.
