● Detached Mining from the Ministry of Environment, domicile it in the office of the Governor under a Special Adviser for effective management.
Nasarawa State Governor Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule has eventually sworn in the Commissioner designate from Keana Local Government area of the state Margaret Elayo whose inauguration was earlier deferred due to a complaints received from an agency of the state.
Margaret Elayo’s swearing-in ceremony took place at the Government House Council Chamber jointly and severally with the inauguration of the Chairman and Members of the Newly reconstituted Teachers Service Commission Thursday February 27th, 2025 in Lafia the state capital.
In his speech shortly after administering the oath of office and that of allegiance to Margaret Elayo; Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule urged the sworn- in Honourable Commissioner to acquaint herself with the developmental imperatives of his administration inline with the provisions of Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy (NEDS) document.
” Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, you would recall that last week, we performed the swearing in of fifteen (15) Honourable Commissioners out of the sixteen that were successfully screened and confirmed by Members of Nasarawa State House of Assembly …
” Accordingly, for inexplicable reasons, the Commissioner designate from Keana Local Government area Princess Margaret Intake Elayo was not sworn in. That had to do with a complain received from another agency that needed both investigation and clarification …
” In line with our posture, due process, rule of law and transparency; now that the matter had been fully investigated and resolved, the Commissioner is found not at fault and therefore it becomes necessary to swear her in ” The Governor explained.

He pointed out that our character sums up our values, principles and actions and that is what defines who we are. The Governor noted further that as humans, we cannot afford to loose our character as it affects our integrity, honesty and authenticity.
Engineer Sule stressed that in the cause of investing the complain filed against Margaret Elayo, the afore stated came to bear in clearing her name which culminated to her eventual swearing-in ceremony along with the inauguration of the reconstituted Nasarawa State Teachers Service Commission.
” I therefore congratulate the new Honourable Commissioner on your well deserved appointment. I implore you to justify the confidence government repose in you by rededicating yourself to the service of the people as you are expected to bring your wealth of experience to bear on our responsibility towards the realization of the mandate of this administration ” The Governor harped.
The Governor equally commended the resourcefulness and exemplary conducts of Margaret Elayo and Timothy Kasuwa in their previous assignments as members of the state executive council before their present appointments as Commissioner and Chairman Nasarawa State Teachers Service Commission respectively.
He urged the appointees to sustain their commitment to service as they take on their new roles with renewed vigor in fast tracking developmental initiatives.
The Governor noted that the reconstitution of the state Teachers Service Commission Chairman and Members was in furtherance of his administration’s commitment to enhance; recruitment, promotions and discipline of teaching staff in the state secondary schools towards the attachment educational goals.
He lamented how the hitherto one thousand recruitment exercise of secondary schools teachers to fill existing gaps in manpower was grossly abused which resulted in the recruitment of tutors beyond the approved margin which led to dissolution of the previous management of the Commission.
” In our resolve to clear the mess and set the commission on the right pedestal, we approved the reconstitution of the management. In doing this, government exercised caution in the appointment of individuals with proven integrity and clear records of public service …
” I therefore charge you to live above board and avoid falling into the same trap the ex-while management of the Commission fell into. You must bring sanity into the system and ensure that the commission brings back it’s lost glory ” The Governor admonished.
The Governor equally announced the detachment of Mining Component from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and brought it within his purview in his office to be overseen by a Special Advisers as a separate unit moving forward.

In her vote of thanks shortly after her swearing in ceremony, Hon. Margaret Elayo expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule for finding her worthy of reappointment as a member of the State Executive Council.
She promised to bring her wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of her responsibilities for enhanced socio-economic development of the state moving forward.
