The Executive Director of the International Centre for Sexual Reproductive Rights (INCRESE), a Non Governmental Organisation, Cesnabmihilo Dorothy Nuhu-Aken’Ova has raised alarm over threats to kill her and her staff resulting in the closure of her office in Minna.
Addressing a press conference in Minna on Friday, Aken’Ova said that the threat to life followed the misleading facebook report authored by an individual who is not conversant with the activities of the organisation.
Speaking, she said “our office at the Cosmic Chambers building in Minna has been closed for now because we have received threats to our lives directly including comments on social media platforms that they will locate and kill us in reaction to the false story circulating about INCRESE”.
She dismissed the social media report linking her organisation to anti cultural and religious practices as total falsehood aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the organisation which has been rendering services since the year 2000.
The Executive Director said that the she has filed a complaint to the police, adding that the person responsible for the misleading report has been arrested.
She said, ” I have petitioned the police and the man that circulated the false informations has been with the police. I am open to alternative dispute resolution, however I am ready to go to court if conditions for resolution are not agreed on”.
Speaking on the activities of the organisation, Nuhu-Aken’Ova said 3000 people have benefitted from the services of INCRESE across the country while 1000 others from Minna have also benefitted.
“We are here today to remind Nigerians of who we are and what we do because we do not want to be misinterpreted, misunderstood, mis-represented or misjudged”, she explained.
