A Christian cleric, Pastor Zinas Gugu, has urged Christians and other Nigerian youths to live righteous and exemplary lives worthy of emulation, to inherit the kingdom of God.
Pastor Gugu has urged youths in tertiary institutions to must shun all forms of unwholesome practices including same sex marriage, lesbianism, drunkenness, sexual immorality and exams malpractice on the campus.
Gugu made the appeal at 5 day convention held for youths of the Nigeria Association of Adventist Students from Plateau-Bauchi Savannah Zone, which held in Bauchi to address the moral decadence among Christian youths in institutions of higher learning in the country.
Speaking on the theme “MODELING JESUS” the guest speaker Pastor Zinas Gugu urged Christian youths to represent christ in their respective institutions of learning by emulating the positive virtues of Christ which are love, patience, joy and tolerance.
He further implored youths to embrace holiness by dressing modestly, engage in constant study of the scriptures, pray without ceasing and be an example for others to follow particularly in an environment such as the campus where students abuse their freedom.
Pastor Gugu expressed dismay over the present membership of the Adventist Church which he puts at about a hundred thousand in the North , saying Adventist youths owe it a duty to scale-up the figure by embarking on massive evangelism on their campuses and communities to win more souls.
In a message to the occasion, the President of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in-charge of Bauchi-Plateau Nigeria Conference Pastor Joshua Ezra Mallum called on the students to recommit themselves to emulating the character of Jesus Christ in their academics, social and spiritual lives as Adventist students and campus leaders vested with the mission of exemplifying the virtues of Christ in their institutions and beyond.
Earlier, the Director of public campus ministry of the conference, Pastor Kawusu David
Umaru said now that the world is experiencing unprecedented societal challenges, Adventist youths must exhibit Christ-like character to counter the current acts of materialism and moral compromise dominating the society.
Krestnews reports that the 5-day Conference which featured lectures, medical outreach, counseling, skill acquisition, song service and sports had not fewer that 320 youth participants.
