“… as members of Hausa-Fulani communities in Kokona pass vote of confidence on him
Ahead of the upcoming Local Government polls in Nasarawa State, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, has said that the people of Kokona LGA will sustain the existing power sharing fomular and rotation of the Chairmanship position in the area among various major tribes for peace, unity, equity, justice, all inclusiveness and development.
The Speaker stated this while playing host to Hausa/Fulani communities from the area among other groups who paid him solidarity visits in his office today in Lafia.
He said that rotating local government Chairman seat in the area would promote harmonious living and peace as well as equity and justice among various tribes in the area.
” I want to sincerely welcome you to my office and appreciate you for the unity and peaceful disposition of Hausa /Fulani in Kokona LG.
” Since the creation of Kokona LGA in 1996, one thing that has kept the people as one indivisible entity is the rotation of position of the chairman of the LG among the major tribes in the area.
“This is an initiative of our late royal father, the Abaga Toni, HRH Slyvester Ayih, may his soul rest in peace, this has been an outstanding legacy he left for our people which has brought sustained unity, peace, justice and equity and we cannot throw it away.
” I am bold to say that I stand by the power sharing and I will continue to stand by it for unity, peace and progress of Kokona LGA.
” The Hausa-Fulani people are locky today to had it twice and as soon as NASIEC pronounce the commencement of activities for election, we will come together as stakeholders in Kokona LGA to decide which tribe is going to be next.
” Your coming today has shown that the Hausa/ Fulani people are not selfish this is because you have come to show appreciation and to show solidarity to power sharing and I appreciate you for that. We will not break the foundation of our forefathers who has made rotation of Chairman a very good thing for our people ” He said.
The Speaker appreciated Gov Abdullahi Sule for his peace and developmental efforts in the area and the state at large.
Speaker Jatau assured the Governor of their maximum support and cooperation to move the state forward.
Earlier, Leaders of the delegation, Hon Bashir Gana and Dr Haruna Maimoko said that they were at the Speaker’s office to appreciate him for his leadership style.
They said that the Speaker is carrying everybody along, attracting development to the area and giving his people massive employment and called for its sustenance.
” We are here to pass a vote of confidence on your leadership qualities and to assure you that we are with you in every steps you take.
” We are also here to tell you that we are in total support of the power sharing and rotation of Chairmanship position for the LG among the major tribes in Kokona LG.
” We also want to appreciate the developmental efforts of Governor Abdullahi Sule in the Area” they said.
It would be reported that other groups that visited the Speaker included Association of Women in Trade and Agriculture (AWITA), Nasarawa State led by Mr Ambosson Esther Mathew, Association of Hausa/ Fulani Students, College of Education, Akwanga led by Yasir Adamu as well as Eggon Community in Kokona LGA.
