In its determination to address the challenge of housing deficit, the Kaduna State Government has performed the ground breaking for new 200-hectare housing project in Millennium City.

Governor Uba Sani, represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Balarabe on Wednesday in Kaduna , emphasized that the initiative is a key component of the government’s broader strategy to provide affordable housing for residents of the state.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Dr. Balarabe noted the administration’s multi-faceted approach, which includes partnerships with local and international investors, a robust Social Housing Scheme, and the strengthening of the Public Housing Corporation.

She also explained, the collaboration with Qatar Charity and other prominent organizations like the Nigerian Airforce and Nigeria Customs Service has already led to significant housing developments in the state.

She said Urban Shelter is a key player in this sector and has committed to developing the 200-hectare site under a Development Lease Agreement with the Kaduna State Government.

According to her ,the project will include not only housing units but also schools, recreational facilities, gardens, and religious sites, enhancing the quality of life for residents.

In her remarks,Urban Shelter’s Managing Director, Hajiya Sadiya Aminu, expressed gratitude for the ongoing partnership with the state government.

She noted that since 2015, Urban Shelter has successfully developed over 28 hectares in Millennium City, investing over N50 billion in the local economy and employing Kaduna-based contractors and consultants.

According to her ,the company has also contributed to the community through social responsibility initiatives, including road construction and green energy projects.

The Emir of Zazzau, Ahmad Bamali, also attended the ceremony, praising Urban Shelter for its significant contributions to Kaduna’s development.

He also commended the company for its quality work and investment in the state, offering prayers for the continued success and expansion of their initiatives.

He said the ceremony marks a significant journey in Kaduna State’s ongoing efforts to boost its housing sector and improve the lives of its citizens.
