Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Tafida say the Kaduna Polytechnic Alumni Association has assisted the institution to get adequate funding to cater for its infrastructure and instructional facilities needs.

He made the disclosure in Kaduna during Foundation Laying Ceremony of the National Secretariat Building of the Association over the weekend in Kaduna

According to the Deputy Governor who is also an alumnus of the Institution the supports were personally funded from Alumni Members and donations
from good spirited individuals.

“It is gratifying to note that within this period, the Alumni Association of the Kadpoly has helped the institution to get adequate funding to cater for the needs of institution’s infrastructure and instructional facilities. So also with the effort of transforming the institution into a technological university.”

“With the advent of new areas of the Alumni programs such as Building a befitting National Secretariat which we are witnessing today, achieving these objectives need a compelling helping hand from members of the public, donor agencies and Philanthropists.”

He revealed that, products of Kaduna polytechnic have contributed veritable and numerous services to the nation building noting that from its beginning as the Technical Institute Kaduna, it has remained one of Nigeria’s most respected citadel of knowledge known for high quality and academic standard not only in Nigeria but worldwide.

Tafida assured personal support and that of the Kebbi state government in order to make building of Kaduna Polytechnic Alumni Association National Secretariat Building realizable.

It will be recalled that, the Kaduna Polytechnic Alumni Association had been inactive for over two decades. However, with the revival of the Association in 2019, the need arose for the Association to have a Strategic Plan to guide its activities towards delivering mandates over the years ahead.

On his part,the National President of Kaduna Polytechnic Alumni Association (KPTAA), Abba Adamu has raised concerns over discrimination against HND holders in most sectors of the in Nigeria.

He expressed dismay in Kaduna during foundation laying ceremony of the National Secretariat Building of the Association at Kaduna Polytechnic.

“He Our leaders are yet to realise the fact that it is only through technological advancement that Nations like Nigeria will be free from economic quagmire, social dysfunction”

The National President of Alumni explained that in some other part of the world, Universities are turned to polytechnics, polytechnic were given true regards in terms of infrastructural development among others.

Adamu emphasised that they would continue fighting to ensure that polytechnic products were given full recognition and treated equally with their BSc counterparts.

On his part the rector of the Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr Suleiman Umar described the project as an indication that, the Polytechnic is fulfilling its mandate of producing men and women, who are worthy in character and learning as demonstrated by the significant impact of Kadpoly graduates all over the World at their respective callings.

“I therefore, rejoice and congratulate the leadership of the Alumni Association under the leadership of Hon. Abba Anas Adamu for its foresight in leaving a lasting legacy by embarking on this project.”

The Rector called on all Kaduna polytechnic graduates, especially those in privileged positions to identify with the Alumni Association and support the building project as well as the growth of the Institution.

He added that Higher institutions globally were mostly developed by their alumni.
