Flash flood has reportedly killed 21 people in Mokwa area of Niger state, central region of Nigeria, following heavy downpour on Thursday morning, May 29
It was learnt that the figure could be higher as 10 more people are still missing while 21 bodies have been recovered.

The Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency ( NSEMA) Alhaji Abdullahi Baba Ara confirmed the incident in a statement issued Minna adding that, “50 houses were swept away by the disaster “
“NSEMA is in receipt of report of a deadly flood disaster that ravaged two communities of Tiffin maza and Anguwan hausawa in Mokwa town of Mokwa LGA. The incidence occurred last night during a torrential downpour of very high intensity that lasted several hours, the surging flood water submerged and washed away over 50 residential houses with their occupants”.
He explained that in response, the Agency in collaboration with Mokwa LG Authority, local divers and very brave volunteers are conducting search and rescue operation to rescue survivors and recover corpses.

“At present 3 servivors ( a woman and her 2 children) are receiving treatment for wounds and shock at Mokwa general hospital while 21 corpses have sofar been recovered of those who sadly loss their lives in the incidence.
