There was jubilation across Bauchi State as the government announced an increment of the minimum pension from N12,000 to N32,000 for retirees. The development is seen as a major relief for pensioners who have long struggled with the rising cost of living.

The Head of Civil Service, Barr. Sani Umar, made the announcement shortly after the State Executive Council meeting at the Exco Chamber. He said the increment was in line with the recent rise in the national minimum wage for civil servants, stressing that Bauchi could not afford to leave its retirees behind.

Umar revealed that although no specific timeframe has been set for the implementation, a circular will be issued in due course. He praised Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad for his administration’s consistent commitment to the welfare of workers and retirees alike.
