In an effort leading to achieving in Plateau State, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has embarked on the training of over 340 youths across the 17 local government areas in modern agricultural skills.
This initiative, according to a statement issued by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor, Gyang Bere, is part of his administration’s vision to revamp the agricultural sector for enhanced food security.
“During his visit to the training ground at CSS Farm on Abuja-Keffi road, Governor Mutfwang encouraged the youths to make the most of the opportunity to develop their agricultural skills for personal growth and the prosperity of the state.”
He restated his administration’s commitment to inclusivity and unity for economic progress in Plateau State.
Governor Mutfwang underscored the importance of modernizing agriculture by moving away from manual labour towards value addition and increased productivity.
He urged the youths to seize the chance to contribute to the state’s economy and create and achieve self reliance.
While congratulating the youths on completing their training, Governor Mutfwang urged them to sustain the momentum in order to make the State a hub for exporting coffee, flowers, and exotic fruits to boost foreign exchange earnings.
Governor Mutfwang explained that it was in line with this vision that his administration is mapping out plans to revitalize the abandoned abattoir in Jos.
He explained that it was for such reason that he carried an on-the,-spot visit to ABIS Farm MKT Nig. Ltd, a modern abattoir in Idu, Abuja, in order to have first hand knowledge on how the state can benefit from the operations of the company.
According to the government in the statement, the initiative is aimed at ensuring quality meat production and create employment opportunities for the youth in the state.
Chairman of CSS Farm, Prof. John Kenedy Opara commended Governor Mutfwang’s leadership for empowering youths to be economically self-reliant.
He expressed confidence that the training provided valuable skills in fishery, horticulture, poultry farming, and crop value addition, which will enable the youths to build successful careers.
He said the efforts by Governor Mutfwang and his team signify a concerted push towards modernizing agriculture and fostering economic growth and empowerment in Plateau State.
