Wife of the 2023 governorship candidate of the people’s Democratic party, PDP, Mrs Miranda Umbugadu yesterday distributed over 150, 000 sets of wrappers, cooking stoves and other items to women in Nasarawa state.

Speaking at the 2024 International Women’s Day celebration tagged Invest in Women: “Accelerate Progress in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state”, Mrs Umbugadu said the distribution was her modest contribution to reduction of the economic hardship being faced by Nigerians especially the women folks.

Mrs Umbugadu while expressing confidence that if women were empowered adequately, appointed into governance, they would stimulate economic growth add value to the nation greater heights.

Umbugadu’s wife who noted further that women contributions to the growth of Nigeria especially Nasarawa state were not recognized despite their numbers, however urged the women not to relent in offering useful advice to people in authority for the betterment of the nation.

It would be recalled that the 2023 governorship candidate of the PDP, David Ombugadu had contested the election against the incumbent Governor, Abdullahi Sule who was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, and and subsequently affirmed by the courts.

She further eulogized her husband for always being in the forefront of empowering and supporting women to reach their full potentials in their chosen fields of endeavours.

“I thank the President for being gender sensitive and friendly even though much is still being expected. we are looking forward to seeing more women in his cabinet, considering the present state of the nation I am also looking forward to seeing more women as Senators, Ministers and Governors.

“The 2024 theme, “Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress”, resonates with my vision for every woman in Nasarawa State. Weather in agriculture, the economy, sports, politics, or entertainment, I urge you all to tap into your immense potentials, and contribute to the tremendous growth of our state and nation.

“On behalf of my husband, Rt. Hon. David Umbugadu mbugadu who has been my pillar of support, and my entire household, I wish the resilient and committed women of Nasarawa State a Happy International Women’s Day, 2024.” She declared.
