In a significant breakthrough, troops of Three Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) have arrested several notorious gunrunners, bandits, and arms couriers in Plateau and Kaduna States.
In a statement signed by major Samson Zhakom, Media Information Officer, Operation SAFE HAVEN, in Jos said the arrests were made in intelligence-driven operations carried out over the past week.
He explained In one operation, troops recovered three AK-47 rifles, five AK-47 magazines, and 75 rounds of ammunition from a suspected bandit hideout in Pandam forest, Qua’anpan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Zhakom said the notorious gunrunner was tracked and arrested by a combined operation with another security agency
along Riyom-Abuja road in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The suspect was caught while attempting to supply 35 AK-47 magazines to another gunrunner.
According to the statement further investigation led to the arrest of the major arms supplier in Manchok, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
He however disclosed that Troops recovered 35 AK-47 magazines, 60 rounds of ammunition, three motorcycles, three mobile phones, and suspected local charms from the supplier’s home.
The military appreciated the public for providing credible information leading to the recoveries and has urged continued
cooperation to ensure a crime-free environment.
