Suspected Boko Haram Sunday morning attacked Jakana Police division in Konduga council area of Borno state, killing a police driver, and a civilian friend of his.

The terrorists’ also burnt down two patrol vehicles belonging to the police and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and a motorcycle, even as some arms and ammunition were carted away by them.

Sources hinted that the terrorists stormed Jakana located along the Maiduguri Damaturu road about 45 kms away from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital at about 1am Sunday morning taking the security team by surprise.

Impeccable sources who preferred annonimity in Maiduguri further revealed that the terrorists stormed the Police Station at that wee hour of the morning engaging the security agencies for about three hours, overwhelmed them, caused damnation even as they fled at about 3 am in the morning.

When contacted on phone, chairman of Konduga council area Abass Abari told newsmen that he received a distressed call that the terrorists attacked Jakana Police.

“I am speaking with the Divisional Police Officer, and whenever I get the full details I will furnish you.” He said.

Confirming the attack to newsmen ASP Nahum Daso said: “Yes, it’s confirmed that an incident happened, So it was a foiled attack by a gunman tried to infiltrate into the police base at Jakana town, But the efforts of the police mobile force attached to the police station over there they were able to repel in the insurance and preventing them from overrunning the police asset there.

“But unfortunately we lost one police inspector and the insurgents burned down a police patrol vehicle.

“But the current situation on the ground there is that the security has taken the thresholds of Jakana town and normalcy has been restored so far, so efforts are ongoing to see what the investigation can reveal

In a separate attack that occurred yesterday, Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents destroyed property valued at millions of Naira, which targeted thirteen trailers that were loaded with significant quantities of goods belonging to local traders.

“In addition to the commercial vehicles, the insurgents also damaged operational vehicles used by security forces in the outskirts of Ngala town, located in Ngala local government area of Borno state.
