President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated that a comprehensive programme aimed at solving the problems of cattle rustling and grazing reserves would be out within the next three weeks.
The President also to partner with Niger state to burnish hunger from the country through agro- mechanised and dry season Irrigation farming.
Tinubu made these assertions Monday in Minna while flagging off the Agricultural Mechanisation Revolution for Food Security Emergency.
“Give us three weeks to reorganise live stock value chain in Nigeria. We have seen the level of commitment at the state level. There are lots of economic opportunities in this for the people and we must care for the people”, adding that state Governors must provide land for the projects
Tinubu commended Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for embarking on such initiative, adding that , ” be sure that you continue with determination to no 1 in feeding the nation “.
In a welcome address Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger state described the the initiative as a modest contribution to infrastructure and agricultural development as encapsulated in the New Niger Agenda.
He said, “For us agriculture is key to our commitment to addressing the challenges in critical sectors of our economy and we shall seize every opportunity for the attainment of growth and engender prosperity for the people of our beloved state and by extension our dear country, Nigeria”.
Governor Bago thanked President Tinubu for approving the airport now named after him as a special Agro-processing Free Zone.
“In this free zone, we have 3000 hectares of land where 1000 hectares is dedicated for greenhouses; 1000 for dairy and meat processing, and the other 1000 hectares for Agro-processing storage, aggregation, and other value chain development components”.he said
