The move which is innovative, is equally a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhanced quality healthcare delivery at affordable cost as well as accessible to all rural dwellers of low economic status

The initiative is particularly aimed at addressing the issue of lack of fund to treat common health challenges like malaria, typhoid among community members in his Constituency of Doma South of Nasarawa State.

The Lawmaker,Hon Ibrahim Musa has therefore taken bold step to empower by providing access to health quality health care by insuring 100 individuals for one year.

Krestnews reports that this is coming as a result of collaborative effort between the lawmaker and the NACWYCA under the Local Health Strengthening Sustainability project of USAID.

A statement issued by Center Communication Officer, NACWYCA/LHSS Project, Godwin Daniel, says the journey towards achieving universal healthcare coverage has achieved a significant milestone with Honourable Musa Ibrahim’s commitment to enroll 100 members of his community into the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency (NASHIA).

“This initiative, propelled by the advocacy visit of NACWYCA to Honourable Musa Ibrahim today, March 22, 2024, marks a pivotal moment in the quest to ensure that no one is left behind in accessing quality healthcare services”.

Speaking during the visit the Executive Director of NACWYCA,Dr. Nawani Aboki, emphasized the imperative of expanding healthcare coverage to include vulnerable populations and the informal sector.

According to the statement, Dr Aboki underscored the pressing need to alleviate the financial burden of healthcare expenses on the people of Nasarawa State, thereby enhancing their overall well-being.

A member of the while reiterating Dr. Aboki’s sentiments, Mr. Reuben Yila, the Representative of NASHIA, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the agency’s health insurance package, saying it is designed to cater to all segments of society.

He encouraged Honourable Musa Ibrahim to leverage this initiative to empower his constituents and alleviate their healthcare expenses.
The Team Leader, expressed confidence in the program’mes ability to mitigate the cost of medical care for rural dwellers.

He urged Honourable Musa Ibrahim to extend the benefits of the health insurance scheme to individuals across his four wards, thereby fostering inclusive healthcare access.

Honourable Musa Ibrahim, in his response, expressed profound gratitude for the visit and the opportunity to contribute to the betterment of his constituents’ health care.

He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the LHSS/USAID project and announced his decision to enroll 100 members of his community into the NASHIA Health Insurance Scheme, with 25 beneficiaries from each of the four wards in his constituency.

He used the forum to pledge to serve as an ambassador for the health insurance scheme, advocating for its adoption among his fellow House of Assembly members and encouraging them to enroll members of their respective constituency.

To demonstrate his commitment, Honourable Ibrahim promptly transferred the necessary funds to cover the enrollment of the 100 beneficiaries during the meeting.
Dr. Nawani Aboki, leading the NACWYCA team, commended Honourable Ibrahim for his swift and decisive action in support of healthcare empowerment.

He urged Honourable Ibrahim to continue to championing the cause of the health insurance scheme and to serve as a beacon of advocacy within his political circles.
This initiative spearheaded by the NACWYCA/LHSS Project, the statement says, represents a significant stride towards achieving universal healthcare coverage in Nasarawa State.
