Borno Governor Professor Babagana Zulum has donated N300m to flood victims of the recent disaster in Mokwa.
Prof. Zulum announced the donation when he led a state delegation on a sympathy visit to the government house, to commiserate with the government and people of Niger state.
He said the donation was to complement the efforts of the Niger State government which is now addressing the challenges from the flood tragedy.
While commiserating with the government and people of Niger State, over the devastating effects of the flood that claimed many lives and destroyed properties and livelihoods recently, Prof. Zulum noted that it was time for all sub national governments to work collectively to mitigate the effect of climate change in the country.
He also enjoined the Federal Government to establish a robust mechanism that would check and address the issue of annual flooding in the country.
Responding, Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger state appreciated his Borno State counterpart for the visit and the accompanied donation on N300m, adding that it was a timely show of love to residents of the state.

He observed that both states have many things in common even as he applauded the doggedness, pro-activeness, perseverance and love of the Borno State Governor by his people, which he said has kept him on his toes amidst the recent upsurge of insurgency.

Bago assured that the donation will be utilised transparently, adding that lots of advocacy was ongoing on the need for the people to stay away from coastal lines to avert a reoccurrence of such tragedies
A statement by Chief press Secretary to the Niger state Governor Bologi Ibrahim stated that the governor has since returned home after the visit.
