Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has appreciated President Bola Tinubu for approving the conversion of the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH) Lafia to the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) Teaching Hospital.
The governor stated this on Thursday in Lafia while he received the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on a thank-you visit.
The president through his Special Adviser (SA) on Media and Publicity, Mr Ajuri Ngelale on Wednesday, August 21, announced the takeover and conversion of the medical facility.
Ngelale explained that the takeover and conversion of the facility followed the request by the Nasarawa State Government.
The governor explained that from day one, the president had taken the issue of the FULafia teaching hospital seriously when the state government and other stakeholders explained the real situation to him.
Sule also appreciated the support of other stakeholders from within and outside the state for the various roles they had played in making the dream of the teaching hospital a reality.
He believed that the teaching hospital would facilitate the training of more Indigenous doctors and other medical personnel.
On the essence of the visit by NUJ, the governor said he was impressed with partnership by NUJ in promoting the policies and programs of his administration to the outside world.
He added that the renovation of the NUJ Press Centre Lafia was to create an enabling environment for journalists for their contributions to the state.
He therefore promised to continue to support the union and look forward to a greater partnership.
Earlier, Mr Salihu Mohammed-Alkali, NUJ Chairman who led the officials and state executive council members, said that the visit was to appreciate the governor for the total overhaul of the press center.
Mohammed-Alkali said that the governor had performed greatly in touching the lives of the people and in providing landmark infrastructures that put the state on par with other developed states.
He therefore encouraged the governor not to relent in his guest to transform the state in all sectors.
He promised that journalists in the state would support the government toward achieving the state they all dreamed of. (NAN).
